¡¡¡¡After several decades of development, Xi¡¯an has formed a rather comprehensive industrial system with machinery, traffic, transportation, electronics, information, aviation, aerospace, biomedicine, foodstuff, drinks, and petrochemical as the backbone, and has become one of the important R&D centers and production bases in China for high and medium voltage power transmitting and transforming complete equipment, airplane and aero-engine, heavy truck, digital program controlled switchboard, color kinescope, fridge and air conditioner compressor, industrial sewing machine, large-scale industrial blower fan, milk products etc. Besides, Xi¡¯an has also preliminarily formed the high-tech industries system with the electronic information, aviation and space flight, optical-mechanical-electrical integration, bio-medicine and new materials as the backbone. There are now altogether over 46,000 industrial enterprises in Xi¡¯an with total assets of over RMB 100 billion Yuan, and the net assets of those registered in Xi¡¯an City is about RMB 50 billion Yuan. The industrial jobholders in Xi¡¯an City are about 1.1 million, 30% of the total employed staff.
¡¡¡¡According to the ¡°Xi¡¯an Industry Revival Plan¡±, Xi¡¯an will adjust the layout of industry, optimize the structure, deepen reform, strengthen management, cultivate and develop advantageous and backbone industries in the later development. The industrial value added of Xi¡¯an was RMB 36.6 billion Yuan in 2004, a growth of 15.1% compared to that of 2003.
