ĦĦĦĦAs the largest transportation hub in northwest China, XiĦŻan has formed a network of high-level highways, railways, aviation and fiber stretching to all directions. There are many enterprises engaged in both domestic and international freight services with good quality and quick transportation.
ĦĦĦĦ1. Aviation: XiĦŻan Xianyang International Airport is a major airport of domestic flight courses and international airliners, and is also one of the 6 regional hub airports under Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC), with the annual capability of 10 million person time and 130,000 tons freight. At present, it has established business relations with 25 airlines from China and abroad and opened 160 flight courses and other 12 flight courses, including international flight courses to Japan, Korea, Thailand, and Malaysia etc., regional flight courses to Hong Kong and Macao as well as chartered flights to Singapore and Azerbaijan. In 2004, XiĦŻan Xianyang International Airport transported 6.326 million person time and 111,000 tons cargo, up 44.7% and 27.7% over 2003, respectively.
ĦĦĦĦ2. Railway: The Longhai-Lanxin Railway Line (double-track) passing through XiĦŻan is the second Eurasia Land Bridge. The Longhai Line joins in XiĦŻan with other five local lines (XiĦŻan-Yuxia, XiĦŻan-Tongchuan, XiĦŻan-Houma of Shanxi, XiĦŻan-YanĦŻan, and XiĦŻan-Ankang) formed the largest railway communications hub in the northwest. The railways of XiĦŻan to Baotou and XiĦŻan to Nanjing are under construction. XiĦŻan Railway Station is one of the top grade passenger sections in China. And XiĦŻan Cargo Station is one of the top grade cargo sections in China and also the largest goods distribution center in northwest and southwest regions. In 2004, XiĦŻan Railway Station transported over 23.79 million people time, up 26.1% over 2003; XiĦŻan Cargo Station transported 41.27 million tons cargo, up 12.7% over 2003.
ĦĦĦĦ3. Highway: XiĦŻan has become one of the cities with the most concentrated national high level highway connections, where 2 state highway arteries, 3 major westward passenger routes and 5 state highways intersect. In addition, 7 provincial highways radiate from XiĦŻan or around it. These trunk lines connect the 10 major cities around (namely Taiyuan, Shijiazhuang, Zhengzhou, Wuhan, Hefei, Chongqing, Chengdu, Lanzhou, Yinchuan and Baotou) and formed a Ħ°One-day Transportation CircleĦħ. The total length of highways around XiĦŻan amounts to 3,300 km, of which 9 high-grade highways, with nearly 300 km in total length, have been already put into use. In 2004, XiĦŻan highways transported 75.69 million people time and 68.67 million tons cargo, up 14.1% and 31.2% over 2003.
